Campus Life
Oakland University has 1,441 acres of wooded hills and meadows. Along with six coed residence halls, OU has six Tudor-style apartment buildings and a community house. They come furnished with a refrigerator, sofa, washer, dryer, stove, microwave and entertainment unit.
The campus provides a cafeteria and an Oakland Center (OC) for students to gather and eat. Places to eat inside the OC include Subway, Coyote Jack’s, Flamiglia Pizzeria, Chick-Fil-A, among other food services.
To insure a safe environment, Oakland has a police department on campus that provides safety procedures to the students and support to all OU students.
With several intramural fields for soccer, football, lacrosse and courts for basketball, Oakland also provides two golf courses and a newly added disc golf course right on campus.
There are 48 major buildings on campus. With all of those being in close proximity of one another, OU students find themselves surrounded by their peers throughout campus to provide that small campus feel.
